How to Measure Your Foam
QUESTION: |
How do I measure the size of custom foam I want?
|
ANSWER: |
If you have the piece of foam you are replacing:
- The best
way is to measure the exact size of the piece of foam you are replacing, accounting for
the fact that it may be worn. Therefore, try to measure the thickness and
width from the areas that have been used the least such as the back and
sides instead of the front and middle. If the foam cushion front is rounded be
sure to measure to the tip of the rounded cushion front when determining the depth
dimension. Make sure to measure all the dimensions required by the foam
shape you selected from the home page.
If you only have a fabric covering:
-
Squared Front: First turn the covering inside out. Then
measure the fabric from edge to edge and add ½ inch. Make sure to measure
all the dimensions required by the foam shape from the bottom row on the
home page that matches your cushion.
- Rounded Front: First turn the covering inside out. For
width and thickness, measure the fabric from edge to edge and add ½ inch.
For the depth, which includes the rounded front, measure from back edge to
tip of rounded front and add ½ inch. Make sure to measure all the dimensions
required by the foam shape from the third row on the home page, which
represents foam with rounded fronts, that matches your cushion.
If you do not have the foam and do not have a fabric covering:
- Custom foam Going Into A Specific Space: Measure all dimensions of
the space and add ½ inch to each measurement. Make sure to measure all the
dimensions required by the foam shape you selected from the home page.
- Free Standing: For a free standing piece you will need to
determine the size you would like. If the foam will be put into a fabric
covering add ½ inch to each measurement. Make sure to measure all the
dimensions required by the foam shape you selected from the home page.
